SURPRISE! 🎉 We’re Publishing a Cozy Romantasy!

TRANSCRIPT:

Oo, I'm already emotional. Here we go. I just finished making the video announcement for the world of what I'm about to announce to you today, but you guys get to know first.

We have been holding this in since late spring when everything really started to pick up and contracts started to be signed, and we're finally here. Another dream come true. I am so excited to finally announce to you that here at Cozy Quill, we have acquired our second book!

When I was promoting our last pitchfest, I said specifically, I wanted a feet-kicking good time. I wanted to giggle. I wanted some romance. There were so many amazing pitches to choose from this round. This was the best of all the pitchfests we've had. But there was one in that stack that I was waiting for, and it was actually a resubmit. This is a lesson for everyone, including myself, because this author actually submitted in the first pitchfest. I read it then, and it was on my short list. I really loved it, but it was just not quite there. I didn’t really know how much room we had to play until after my experience with Recipes for an Unexpected Afterlife.

When I said for my next round I was looking for a cozy romantasy, which is exactly what this author’s book was, they reached out and asked for some feedback. Because it was shortlisted and I had read the entirety of the story, I was able to give some constructive feedback as best I could, and I encouraged them to resubmit. When I saw that book pop into my inbox, I jumped on it so fast. It was the first one I read because I had a gut feeling, and it was one of the books that I just couldn’t let go of. The revisions were chef’s kiss. The way the author took that feedback and made something even richer in this story, it was everything I wanted and more. I could not wait to make an offer. We jumped right on it because I loved it, and I know you’re going to love it.

One of my favorite parts about this announcement is not only are we getting to publish an author that I really loved and can’t wait to celebrate, but it’s also an author that you guys already know and already love and celebrate every day in the Discord.

I am over the moon, excited, and proud to announce that our fall 2026 release with Cozy Quill will be Twig's Traveling Tomes by our very own Gryffin Murphy!

Gryffin, I’m so excited and so proud to partner with you throughout the next year in promoting and sharing this story with the world. Gryffin has been such a meaningful part of this community, whether in the author space or just as a cozy enthusiast right alongside us. She’s already writing amazing stuff in the space. You may be familiar with her book Love at First Lance, another fun romantic romp I highly suggest.

This is a cozy romantasy — again, feet-kicking, giggling good time. The book follows the sweetest MC, Louella, who has a very special magical gift. She can peek behind the curtain into your heart and tell you exactly what book you need.

She has a moving, roving bookstore she sells books out of, very Howl’s Moving Castle. Everything’s going fine for Louella until one day an old mentor (think a kooky kind of Merlin from The Sword in the Stone) shows up at her bookstore begging for help finding an enchanted book that has gone missing. The adventure begins, the found family is collected, wonderful friends join the story, and there are charming gnome characters. There’s also a handsome roguish thief (think Flynn Rider from Tangled) but while Flynn is more cocky, this character is more confident and competent in the best way.

Louella is forced into an adventure she never asked for, and in it, she finds confidence in herself and assurance in her abilities, which weren’t necessarily appreciated in magical school. It’s a story about not just settling into who you are, but celebrating it, and surrounding yourself with people who celebrate you just as much, if not more enthusiastically. All wrapped in is a sweet little romance.

For spice level, it’s similar to Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea or The Secret Society of Irregular Witches(PG-13), with lots of almost moments but no explicit spice. There are definitely a few heated scenes, though. Gryffin wrote something charming, enchanting, and special. I think it’s going to bring everyone a lot of joy, and we are over the moon to celebrate.

The best thing you can do today for this story is to share. If you see my video go up soon, or if Gryffin posts, or Bindery posts, please share and engage. Any kind of share or comment helps get the buzz going for this story, because it deserves it.

Let’s pour out love for Gryffin today. This is celebratory and exciting, but also scary. We’re already starting developmental edits, the red marks are starting, and that can be daunting. Anytime you put something you’ve poured your heart into out in the world, it’s a piece of yourself, and that can be terrifying. You guys came through so well for Deston so let’s do that again for Gryffin.

On Discord, we now have a space for Twigs where I’ll be posting publishing updates. Gryffin will be there today so pop in, say hi, ask questions!

Later this afternoon I’ll post an interview where I ask Gryffin all the questions about writing the story, the inspirations, why I chose it, and what she’s most looking forward to in this process.

I love you guys so much. You are the reason books like this get to be put out into the world. This would not be happening if it weren’t for you, your presence here, and your contributions to my content and the book space in general. Thank you for giving so much of your time and enthusiasm to what we’re doing at Cozy Quill. It means the world to me and to everyone involved!

The announcement goes up at noon central time. If you wouldn’t mind reposting, sharing, and commenting, that would be amazing. I’ll see you in the comments! I love you guys so much. Congratulations, Gryffin!
